So proud of my dearest and talented mom for making it into Top 10 of Asia Vegetarian Chef Competition hosted by the Malaysian International Meatless Expo. It’s not easy to make it into the top 10 I would say as all the participants came from different countries with experience working in cafes and restaurants.

We chose to present Dhokla and it instantly became popular among the judges and the public who got to try as it was something new.

For those of you who don’t know what is Dhokla, it is a vegetarian culinary dish that is found mainly in the Indian state of Gujarat and parts of adjacent states. It is made with a fermented batter derived from rice and split urad dal. Dhokla can be eaten for breakfast, as a main course, as a side dish, or as a snack. We had a great flow during the competition, just didn’t got the time to invest on the plating and presentation or else we could have done better.

The main objective of our catering business, Preeti’s Farsan Penang is not only to sell food among the people but also giving the exposure to the culture and tradition among fellow Penangites. It’s been 3 years since we have started this business and we are so happy to see the fellow locals tasting our food.

P/s: My mom got to know that she signed up for this competition the very last minute 🤣
